Delayed production of the VanMoof V: An update – VanMoof Blog

Our teams are currently putting the early prototypes of our first-ever hyperbike, the VanMoof V, to the test on the streets of Taipei. But while full-scale production was planned to commence this fall, we now expect production to start in late 2023. We are adjusting the timeline due to global supply chain issues. Here’s the latest update on the VanMoof V.

The VanMoof V is designed to offer riders a true car replacement. Optimized for long commutes and designed to disrupt the high-speed e-bike category, the V will be capable of hitting speeds up to [50 kilometers][31 miles] per hour, with integrated speed settings to match country regulations. As well as more power, it will be full of new features and the latest VanMoof tech optimized to shrink even the biggest cities.

“The world looks very different today from when we announced the VanMoof V 12 months ago,” co-founder and CEO Ties Carlier explains. “We know the production delay of the VanMoof V will come as a disappointment to many, but it’s important to be realistic in our current economic climate. Our teams are working hard to keep to our adjusting timelines, and we can’t wait to see the V take to our streets as soon as possible.”

“What many riders will be delighted to hear is that we have integrated new tech features originally designed for the VanMoof V into our latest e-bikes, the S5 & A5 – including automatic shifting, an entirely new drivetrain, phone mount, and USB-C charging”

Many of the game-changing features and next-level technology set to be integrated into the VanMoof V can already be put to the test by riders worldwide. “What many riders will be delighted to hear is that we have integrated new tech features originally designed for the VanMoof V into our latest e-bikes, the S5 & A5 – including automatic shifting, an entirely new drivetrain, phone mount, and USB-C charging,” Ties tells us. The VanMoof S5 & A5 have been designed for super-smart inner city electric biking, while the V remains the top choice for riders traveling longer distances at faster speeds.
