The Quattro is the newest addition to the Sai rusher family. It is this big beefy step through now bold and beefy. Those are two adjectives we use pretty much consistently with the side. Rusher bikes, the step over height here is about 20 inches, and this makes it the most approachable in all the side. Rusher lineup, with the exception of the komoda, but the Komodo has 20 inch tires. This ones got 26 inch tires. The Quattro comes in two colors weve got cyan, which is the color that we are reviewing and they also come in white that cyan color is accessed by some of these fun geometric shapes here, and so this thing, just sort of has a very fun beefy vibe To it, I was trying to stay away from beefy, but thats hard to do next. Lets talk about the motor. The motor we have here is a 750 watt rear hub motor. This is a buffet motor. It is the same motor that they use in most of the bikes that are 750s. Now, with this one, I noticed it was a little bit louder than normal, not the actual motor noise itself, but there is a little bit of that electric wind that you get on some of these motors now I dont know if thats the case with all of The quattros or just the unit that I got, but I did notice a little bit of a higher pitch sound than I normally hear on these motors.
The nominal Watts here, like I said, is 750, but it does have up to 1500 watts of peak power. I saw 1300 a couple times and I was able to hit 31 32 miles per hour on a flat surface pretty easily. So, even though this is the step, three more approachable version, youre still able to get some pretty quick speeds. Next lets talk about the battery. The battery we have here is this lockable and removable battery. It is 48 volts, 17 amp hours 816 Watt hours for those that dont want to do the math there now something thats interesting here is the control is actually 25 amps. Where were used to seeing 15 16, something like that, we are being able to pull quite a bit of amperage here once you got it fully charged, you should be able to get anywhere between 22 to 50 miles now 50 miles is probably pushing it realistically. Youre, probably looking somewhere around that 42 43 miles and thats, you know pedal assist one flat ground doing a little bit of work. A nice feature here is that you can charge the battery in the bike, so you dont have to have the key and unlock it. Every time and if you do decide to pull it out, it is fairly easy to get out of the frame. You do have to angle the tire just a little bit to get it to come out nice and easy, and the only downside for me as far as this battery goes is the fact that you have to have the key again to put it back into the Frame so that would be a cool upgrade to see her on this bike.
Next lets talk about the brakes. The brakes we have here are star union hydraulic brakes. Now these ones come with motor cutoff, Inhibitors and 160 millimeter discs on both the front and the rear. Since this is a bigger bike and its capable of the speeds of 30 plus miles per hour love the fact that we have the high brakes over the mechanical brakes, so I havent had any problems with them. I didnt have to make any adjustments out of the box. They stopped the bike really well. I dont know how they would hold up long term. You know star Unions, not a top tier brand or anything so itd be interesting to see what the long term life is like on. These breaks. Next lets talk about the gears up here. On the right hand, side we have got the Shimano sis index shifter, as you guys know, Im a fan of this one super easy to use. I havent had any issues with these things now, with the shifting on this bike. Now the rear drillo probably could have used some adjustments out of the box youll see in the ride test later I was having a little bit of a difficulty getting it down into first gear, but that would be a simple screw adjustment there at the back on The derailleur, the Quattro, is a seven speed bike and as far as the gearing goes, when I hit that 28 miles per hour, its a pretty good gearing ratio.
But once you go from you know, maybe, but maybe right at about 28 and then up to that 32, you do start to get a little bit of ghost pedaling next lets talk about the extras. The Quattro comes with pretty much every extra. We would expect to see on a bike at this price point: weve got fenders both in the front and the rear. Weve got a front light. Weve got a rear rack and a rear light. Now about this lighting system, its all integrated into the battery, which is excellent, we dont have to worry about carrying around any weird small batteries. We can just turn all that stuff on from the keypad up. On the left hand, side next lets talk about the suspension up here in the front we have got a coil suspension and hydraulic lockout with some preload adjustment: 80 millimeters of travel and 35 millimeters of deformation. Now the Quattro is a hardtail, some of the side. Rusher bikes are full suspension, but this one doesnt have any rear suspension. The other part of suspension we like to talk about is the butt suspension, and so the saddle we have here is a similar saddle. Weve seen to a lot of the other side, rusher bikes, its sort of this medium sized sport, Comfort saddle this particular one was pretty comfortable for me. But, as you guys know, when it comes to Saddles its really about matching, this saddle up to your sit bone.
So it might not be perfect for you. Luckily, seats are a very easy upgrade. In fact, most people probably get a bike swap out the seat for something that fits them a little bit more or fits their style of riding a little bit better. The last part of suspension we like to talk about is the tires, so the tires weve got here. Are these 26 by 4 inch Fat Tires? These are Chao yangs, which are tires. We have seen on other side rusher bikes in the past. Now these are something that give you a little bit more grip if youre in sand or rocks things like that, and the fact that you can adjust the PSI in between 5 to 20. Psi is recommended. On these tires, you can adjust the feel of the tire to the terrain that youre riding on next lets. Talk about the controls lets start over here. On the right hand, side weve got our twist throttle no issues here, plenty of spring back, not any real complaints. My personal opinion, I prefer thumb throttles, but that is very much a personal opinion. Theres no issues with this twist throttle looks good on the bike and it works well here over here. On the left hand, side weve got a majority of the cockpit controls. Weve got two small keypads: one of them is going to be for turning the bike on adjusting our pedal, assist up or down, and then theres a separate one for the lights and the horn.
Now the horn is pretty loud its one of those things you dont want to set off in the garage. I know because I did, and it scares me because I thought I was turning on the lights tonight – clicked the long button. So the right button is the light button. You could say next lets talk about who this bike might be for now, because this is a bigger beefier bike side. Rusher does Market this as something thats, four bigger Riders and because of the geometry of the bike, it really is going to accommodate people, probably up to that six six mark on the website. It has it listed for Riders, who are five foot four, and I think that might be stretching it just a little bit just because weve got these big fat tires even me at 510, I ride it the seat pretty much all the way down. Now, if I was going for a correct riding position, if I was you know looking at my legs and wanted to get my inseam to line them just right, then Id probably raise it up just a little bit, but I prefer to be able to you know, Put my feet on the ground and stay on the saddle, but because you got the step through, you can always come off the bike, meaning that if you are a little bit shorter, you could probably still have a good riding position on this bike. Now, because weve got the rear rack here, that sort of opens up the possibilities for what you could do with this bike.
Do I think its a perfect commuter bike? No, probably not! Is it something youre gon na take onto some off road trails you can. I did it handled itself really well, but it is a hardtail and the front shocks. Theyve only got you know: 80 millimeters of travel. So this is not something that youre going to want to take primarily off road, but if you got to go through a dirt path on your way to work or on your way to the park, it should handle that well and if youre driving around the neighborhood. This thing is a breeze, very comfortable. Those fat tires really absorb a lot of the bumps and cracks and all that sort of stuff, and if you got ta, take it on some light, pave Trails, sort of that loose Rock sort of trails. This thing would do really well on that train as well. So what Im thinking about who this bike is for its for somebody who wants to take a leisurely ride on the weekend? I dont really see this being a Workhorse. I dont see this being something that you would necessarily want to do like food deliveries with, but depending on the terrain and the distance you have to travel, it can probably do any of that stuff that that you wanted it to do. I think that pretty much covers it for all of these specs and my proposed use cases for the bike, so lets go ahead and send it outside for the right test.
All right guys, we are outside with the Quattro from Sai Rush were getting ready to do. Our ride test so lets go ahead pop on here and see what she handles like now. Lets go ahead and lets ride around as if it were just a regular old bike, its a big beefy, regular old bike, shiftings, not too bad here, a little bit slow from six to seven there we go got her in there and you know what its not Too bad, as far as like the pedal geometry goes still feels like shes pretty nimble, but this isnt a bike review guys. This is an e like review, so lets go ahead and fire on it lets go ahead and start off in pedal assist level. One very responsive there. I also like that, its showing us the Watts, and actually, let me, let me see, even when were not pulling anything its still telling us how fast were going. Another nice feature that I like to see over here lets see you might need to adjust that just a smidge, so pesos level. One is getting about that 12. miles an hour. Two 13 14. three trying to pick up some speed and well go. Do a speed test here in just a minute three still taking steps with that seventeen eighteen Id say, go ahead and do a little breaking, oh, very, responsive with the brakes. Here we got these hydraulic brakes, which are always a nice little upgrade to see over mechanical, especially when you had a bike that can go as fast as this one could go and were about to find that out.
I keep saying like its a Prelude to something cool like I, I know some secret, but Ive been riding around, so I know how fast we can go on here. All right, so lets see pedal system before still going its pulling about 560 Watts. At this point and 20 miles per hour and pedal says level, five pulling a thousand Watts: 26.. 27.. 28. Oh, this isnt much of a curve when youre going almost 30, its becomes a little bit more of a curve, thats pretty fun its easy to get into that 28 miles per hour. 29 30. yeah well go ahead and do a little breaking its exciting. So lets go ahead and lets take her off road. A little bit say she handles now. Thats throttle only cruising up these little Hills here, a little bit of help there. Like I mentioned, this is a fairly Nimble bite, the geometry just sort of lends itself to that youre back here, going around all these little twists and turns and curves, you feel a little bit more a little a little bit of air here now this front shocks Are doing a little bit of work now we come to is a nice little challenge climb you dont get a lot of speed up to it and its Rudy kind of steep see how she handles it. Like a champ like a champ yeah, so we dont have you know anything crazy on the front forks over there enough to pop up do a little business.
You know lets go ahead and do a little hill climbing on this embankment here. The throttle only lets go and I think, were gon na make it. You know just my angle a little bit boom. I was pulling 1200 watts there, so it was doing some work. Thats, a drop off lets go ahead and see if we do a little bit of pedaling. If that doesnt help it out just a smidge, oh yeah, barely any pedaling but thats yeah thats. All she needs to do some real work here, nice and guys this guys gon na, do it for our review on the Quattro from Psy rusher. You guys got any questions for them.
