The Velowave e-bike range consists of an electric mountain bike, a fat tire e-bike and a road / hybrid electric bike. They all seem to have a decent specification, combined sleek styling and an affordable price tag. I have listed all the Velowave electric bikes below with a brief review of the specifications. Velowave e-bikes are currently only available in the US, but there may be plans in future for an expansion into the EU / UK e-bike market.

1. Velowave Ghost Electric Mountain Bike

The Velowave Ghost MTB3 has some nice features for a cheaper electric bike. With a respectable 48v 13Ah battery and 500W rear hub motor, this e-bike will be ideal for commuting or moderate off-road adventures. There’s also a multifunctional color display, which you don’t usually find on e-bikes at this price. The coil-sprung suspension fork will be okay for some light off-road riding and should adequately smooth out a bumpy road surfaces.

Gearing and brakes are what you’d usually expect at this price point. There’s Shimano 7-speed gearing with a gripshift and mechanical disc brakes. The tyres are 27.5 x 2.35″  Kenda’s, which should offer decent grip off-road. A kickstand and headlight finish off the package.

Looking at the spec, I’d say the Velowave Ghost MTB3 is going to be a good all-rounder – adaptable for riding on different surfaces, but certainly no off-road speed machine.

If you’re in the market for a lightweight electric bike, the Velowave Spirit RAD3 looks like excellent value for money.
