Yamaha MT 15 might get major changes

– Bluetooth connectivity could be on cards

– R15-like upside-down forks a possibility

Yamaha is expected to launch the updated version of the MT 15 in India. The motorcycle is likely to get a couple of changes and one of these will be the inclusion of a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster. Although the confirmed launch timeline isn’t known yet, our dealer sources expect it to come around February-March 2022.

This doesn’t come as surprise considering the new Yamaha YZF R15 V4 has already received Bluetooth connectivity with its previous update. Since the MT 15 shares most of its components with the R15, it’s just a matter of time that the former too gets Bluetooth. In fact, even the more affordable FZ S FI and the FZ X get this functionality.

The list of changes might not end at new features only. The new YZF R15 V4 also gets upside-down front forks, as opposed to the older telescopic setup. Now that Yamaha has been going all out with its premium offerings, the MT 15 should borrow inverted forks from the R15 in its next update. But what will remain majorly the same is its 155cc, liquid-cooled engine with variable valve actuation. It churns out 18.23bhp and 13.9Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The existing ex-showroom prices of the Yamaha MT 15 go up to Rs 1.50 lakh (for Monster Energy edition). The aforementioned revisions will bump up its prices by a significant margin.
